It is Monday, January 19th, 2009 and today is our day to remember and honor Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King. I am in Washington, DC with my friend Kyra Randall. We are here for the Inauguration of our 44th President Barak Obama.
Kyra came from Houston, TX on Friday. I flew in from San Francisco to Philadelphia on Saturday. We are guests of Kyra’s friend Roger. This is true for many pilgrims I met on the journey here. They were staying with friends, family, and all radiating this same light of hope.
On the Mall yesterday, the love was thick in the air. I wish it were all positive but as the crowd after the free concert the remnants of people were evident by the trash they left behind. This was a sad, glaring, testimonial to the truth of the human condition. We want the party but many not be willing to do the work necessary to preserve the world for the next party.
We can change. I can change. You can change. Let us all choose to thrive!

I will daily post on to SmugMug my photo documentation of my path. There are already pictures at www.salove.smugmug.com
Freedom is necessary for all of us. We need to be able to speak our truth, walk our talk, and be heard with respect. I am grateful to Kyra and her father Benny Holman to be able to share in this celebration for our Nation. The wonder of technology allows me to share it now with you! These truly are miraculous times.
